Student Executive

2025-2026

Angela Metron — President

Hello everyone! My name is Angela and I have the privilege of serving as President of Newman House this year! I am in my 5th year of Concurrent Education, completing a Joint-Honours degree in Music and French. I hope to be your kid’s favourite music teacher one day!

In my free time I enjoy taking walks by the water, watching sitcoms (avid New Girl fan right here) with my housemates, or catching up with my family and friends. Around campus, you can find me at the Bader enjoying the beautiful study view, but most often, at CoGro, enjoying my cheddar bagel (double toasted of course)!

Trying to reconnect with my Catholic faith in university was an intimidating undertaking. When I first explored Newman, I was immediately welcomed in with open arms and felt at home. Since I became involved in my second year, I have been so blessed by this community, and have grown immensely in my relationship with Jesus. From taking Faith Studies, to socials and Thursday Mass & Dinners, there is a place and a space for everyone here at Newman. In my role, I want to foster the same loving atmosphere I experienced when I first walked in - one that emulates the Father’s love so evidently.

I am so excited to see what the Lord has in store for us this year! Never hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or want a friendly face to walk to Mass with! I can’t wait to meet y’all! God bless!

Nicholas Castrogiovanni — Vice President

Hey everyone! My name is Nick and I have the pleasure of serving as Vice-President of Newman House this year! I am in my 3rd year of Concurrent Education, Majoring in History and Minoring in Music.

In my free time I like to sing with my friends, go for long explorational walks, play minecraft and work outside. Around campus you can typically find me hanging around Newman. Though I do most of my studying up in my room.

My first year I came to main campus after the program at Bader College fell apart in the middle of the year. While I did not outright join the community until my second year, I was still able to make friends with some of the CCO missionaries as well as a few members of the Newman community which helped me build up the courage to participate actively in my second year. Since joining the community fully, I have learned how to altar serve at the Cathedral, and at Thursday Mass, allowing me to experience the sacrifice of the mass in a much more up close and personal way, for which I am forever grateful.

I am looking forward to seeing where the Lord leads us this year, as we walk together in hope of the Kingdom of God. Feel free to reach out with any questions, or if you just want to chat, and know that all are welcome in our Newman Community. Looking forward to the year! Pax Tecum!

Cisilia Kocherry — Outreach & Media Coordinator

Hello friends! My name is Cisilia and I am very excited to be you Social Outreach Coordinator this year! I am in my second year of ArtSci, majoring in History and minoring in Classics. I’d like to be a teacher but ultimately the goal is to glorify God in whatever I end up doing.

In my free time you can catch me watching romcoms, attempting to make a dent in whatever book I’m reading (currently the Goblet of Fire), or just chilling at Newman trying to find more fun and exciting content for Newman. I love to go around campus trying to find new coffee places but fun fact I don’t like coffee.

When coming into first year I was excited to get involved with Newman House!

Owen Murphy — Liturgical Coordinator

Hello Newman House Community. I am Owen Murphy, I will be serving as liturgical coordinator this year. I am in my fourth year of study in History and Philosophy. My current aspiration is to enter seminary and become a priest of the FSSP. Newman House has provided for me a bastion of Christianity in the midst of an often toxic secular campus. I converted to the Catholic faith in 2021 and began my studies at Bader College the following year. When I arrived at the main campus for my second year of study I immediately sought out a Catholic community and found my answer in Newman House and Frassati Mens Group.  I enjoy reading, good conversation, espresso, being outdoors and going to the gym. I am looking forward to helping our community live liturgically and engage in the rich heritage of the Roman Rite. May Our Lady always guide us!

Kat Morin — Secretary and Treasurer

Hey guys! My name is Kat and I am so excited that God blessed me with the opportunity to serve as your Secretary/Treasurer this year! I am in my 2nd year of Concurrent Education, majoring in Religion, and minoring in Sociology. My dream is to be an elementary school teacher and to shower them with Christ's love. Fun fact: I have wanted to be a teacher since I was 8 years old!

In my free time, you catch me at the gym working out, listening to music, scrolling on Tiktok, hanging out with my friends, or eating chocolate. Around campus, you can catch me at Stauffer doing school work, at Newman hanging out, or at the ARC lifting weights, or eating a chicken caesar salad at the food court!

When I arrived at Queen’s last year, I searched for a Catholic community to turn to, and Newman surpassed my expectations! It gave me a place where I felt like I belonged, and allowed me to truly immerse myself into the Catholic faith. Newman provided me with a space where I could learn, ask questions, and grow spiritually! I really enjoy the CCO faith studies, and of course, Thursday mass and dinner is my favourite part of the week! This house has done so much for me, and this year, I want to give back to this community that I love dearly and that has blessed me beyond measure!

I am so excited to grow in our walk with Christ together this year! I am looking forward to seeing all of your friendly faces, and I know that this will be such a great year! I am always here for you, so never hesitate to reach out! Let’s have an incredible year! God bless you all and see you at Newman!
